Desk Hacks

My wife and I have, between us, four laptops, two phones, and a number of other USB accessories. It’s hard to keep them all charged, and traditional power strips located on the floor are inconvenient. There was definitely room for improvement. Here’s what I came up with!

Tripp Lite/Waber Industrial Power Strip – $23, Amazon Prime

I was surprised how hard it was to find a durable, mountable power strip. There are tons of plastic power strips out there that are technically mountable thanks to eyelets on the back, but in my experience those never seem to mount very securely. These Tripp Lite strips, however, have metal wings with dimples that can be drilled out so you can screw it in tightly.

USBGear Mountable USB Hub – $22, Newegg

The natural accompaniment to the mountable power strip is this mountable USB hub. Though it can serve as a data hub, I’m only using it for its charging capability. Like the Tripp Lite, it’s in a metal frame, and even has the mounting holes pre-drilled!

These desk hacks are working great for us! Here are a few photos.
